Ben & Jacqui Roberts
Ben and Jacqui were high school sweethearts and have been married since 2004. They have five mostly wonderful children: Clayton, Ruby, Tobin, Eva, and Maxwell. They also have a little dog named Paisley, who is very much a part of the family. Had you asked them a decade ago if they would still be living in the city, they would’ve responded with a definite “no.” Cleveland, for them, was supposed to be a temporary ministry position and a starter home, from which they would springboard into the rest of their life, probably landing in the suburbs with a white picket fence and 2.5 children, whatever that means. But God had other plans. Slowly God began to soften their hearts, open their eyes, and light a fire in their soul for the people of the city. Somewhere along the line, they moved from “just visiting” to residing in Cleveland, to having skin in the game and compassion for the many sheep without a Shepherd. They currently work with Grace Church in Old Brooklyn, Urban Bridges, and have a thriving ministry around their kitchen table with the neighborhood youth of all different orientations and races.
Romans 12:1 “So here’s what I want you to do, God helping you: Take your everyday, ordinary life—your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life—and place it before God as an offering. Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for him.”
