What is the Bridge?

The Bridge is a former United Methodist church building that is currently being renovated into a multi-purpose community center. The building is located at 5612 Clark Ave, on the border of the Detroit Shoreway and Stockyard neighborhoods in Cleveland. A substantial number of refugee families now have their new homes in the neighborhoods surrounding the Bridge.

The vision for the Bridge is for it to include a refugee education and resource center, computer lab, and community gathering space. The classes, resources, and events offered are intended to help smooth the refugees’ transition as newcomers to Cleveland and foster a greater sense of community among resettled refugees in our neighborhoods.
Current plans are for the refugee education and resource center to offer classes in English (ESOL), basic computer skills, assimilation and local laws education, and citizenship preparation. Assistance will also be available for those seeking employment, student tutoring, and understanding received documents and paperwork.

Check back soon for more information on classes and resources available.
